Acer-Aspire-One-D150Asus was the biological parent of netbook category by Acer was what it took to make the first ‘decent’ netbook. The company has come out with Acer Aspire One D150 which adds another good product to their netbook lineup. With this product, the company has entered in the 10 inches netbook market and since Acer is the biggest netbook seller, its new product has to be received with high expectations.

The device comes with the new Intel Atom N280 processor which runs at 1.66 GHz. You get the standard 160 GB hard drive, which is pretty common and 1 GB of DDR2 RAM, again no surprises here either. For wire free connectivity there is Bluetooth 2.0 to hook up to personal area networks and WiFi 802.11 G for hooking up to local area networks. A standard 10/100 wired Ethernet connection slot is also provided, along with a VGA port. Along with these two, there are the audio jacks, the 5 in 1 memory card reader, a USB port on the left. The right side has two USB ports, the power slot and a Kensington lock slot. There are dedicated buttons to switch the WiFi and Bluetooth on and off.

Since this is a netbook and video chatting is a must, you get a 0.3 megapixel camera. The camera, as obvious is above the 10.1 inches screen. The screen resolution is again standard 1024 X 600. Be advised that is a glossy screen and reflections would be a problem. On the positive side, the screen provides great color rendering and is very bright. The odd thing (but not unexpected) is the peeping battery. Since Acer wanted to give increased better battery life, the size had to be increased, Now there is an ugly protrusion of the battery at the machine’s rear. This one here is a six cell battery that can last up to five hours if the settings are cranked and tweaked properly.

Acer Aspire

Acer has accessorized the product with all the necessary throw ins. There is power adaptor, a slip case which is rather good one. Given all the things however, you would still find that there are products which are better than this one. No it is not being said that Acer made a bad thing here, the product is fine enough, it just seems like an Average Joe  with something better on the offer from other companies.
