Tablet PCs have been around for a long time now but the company that has been premiere in making the best tablet PCs is Lenovo which sells them under the Thinkpad brand. The latest product in the tablet PC line is ThinkPad X200 T. This machine features a 12.1 inches touch screen and is available in the popular convertible form factor which means that you get a complete keyboard as well as the standard tablet capabilities.
In the Thinkpad line, this is first device that uses a wide screen. It features a resolution of 1280 X 800 and comes with a chassis of magnesium alloy. The swivel system moves 360 degrees and is pretty solid and stable. For a tablet PC, the machine features an exceptionally good keyboard, as expected in case of a Thinkpad. Lenovo has also made the keyboard spill proof to ensure that the users would not suffer a lot in case the machine suffers liquid spills. Lenovo has removed the touchpad and is using the Trackpoint instead. Good riddance, it’s a tablet PC after all!
The machine uses Intel Core 2 Duo SL9400 processor that runs at 1.86 GHz. This is a Centrino 2 device. You get 2 GB of RAM and this RAM is not DDR2, it is the newer and faster DDR3 RAM. There is no optical drive and for storage there is a pretty spacious 250 GB hard drive. The computer has multiple connectivity options including 802.11 b/g and Draft N WiFIl, onboard HSDPA GPRS modem capable of speeds up to 7.2 Mbps. You also get a 1.3 MP webcam, an integrate mic and audio in and out jacks. For external connections, you get a VGA port. Other ports include 3 X USB, 1 X Express Card slot, in built modem and a docking station.

The machine is loaded with Windows Vista SP1. The OS has matured pretty much since its early days and now works pretty smooth. The dimensions of this device are 295 x 228 x 33 mm which makes it pretty compact. The only shame is that the machine comes with a poor, 4 cell battery and yet the weight is above 1.7 kg. Add the power brick and that is a substantial load to carry. Not exactly best for people who have to stand a lot while working. If you buy it, do get a bigger battery.
