Pre and Its 3 Potential Rivals

Since the introduction of iPhone, no phone has gotten such publicity as Palm Pre did. The phone is said to be potential iPhone killer more than any other phone available. But scenario has changed; it isn’t only the iPhone with which comparisons are being made, in fact potential Pre-killers are under discussion these days. We are also going to discuss the same issue today.
1. Sony Ericsson Satio:
Formerly known as Idou, this wide-touch-screen mobile phone is a beauty. It has a 3.5 inch wide format touch-screen with crisp colors and detailed picture, and Accelerometer sensor. On board memory is 128MB which is expandable to 16 GB and SE will include an 8GB card in the package.
Highlighting features are 3G (HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps; HSUPA, 3.6 Mbps) and 12.1 MP camera with Touch focus, geo-tagging, face and smile detection. There should have been more on board memory and a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack; people will have to think if this is the right phone to drag their attention away form Palm Pre.
2. Nokia N97:
Now here is something that is really a great piece. This is also a 3.5” TFT resistive Touchscreen cell phone, like the Satio. Other features include a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard, 3.5 mm audio jack, 32 GB on board storage with a card slot for up to 16 GB, 3G connectivity (HSDPA, 3.6 Mbps), a 5 MP camera (2592×1944 pixels, Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, LED flash, video light) with DVD quality video capture, GPS with A-GPS support and Nokia Maps and 40 hours of music playback.
Symbian OS and the processor both are not up to the mark and apps might run sluggishly as compared to Pre. On the other hand, the full QWERTY keyboard of N97 is something that takes Nokia ahead of Palm.
3. Apple iPhone 3GS:
Here comes the real rival; the iPhone 3GS. With the software update 3.0; Apple has added a number of new features that were really wanted by the users. Now, there is copy/paste, MMS, tethering, downloading of full length movies and TV shows directly to the phone, remote wiping of the data, push notifications, and a better and enhanced 3MP camera.
Pre has slightly smaller screen with 3.1 inches in comparison with iPhone’s 3.5”. No physical keyboard is present in iPhone whereas Pre boasts a full QWERTY keyboard. IPhone has 16GB or 32GB on board memory, whereas Pre has only 8GB, both lacking a card slot.
All of these mobile phones have their own qualities and drawbacks, and comparing one with the other is not an easy task. Even then, the large store of Apple’s apps and the charisma of iPhone is nothing to deny. Let us see who will win the contest once these rivals confront each other in show cases at market.
